Friday 25th April at 7.30pm Organ Recital in Church A Recital on the Samuel Renn Organ by Jason Lowe, the recipient of our 2008 Organ Bursary. The Programme will include music by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, Johann Sebastian Bach, Stephen Burtonwood, Dietrich Buxtehude, & John Stanley. Admission (at the door) is £5.00, which will include light refreshments. Programme notes will be provided. Jason Lowe has deputized in and been organist of various churches in the Warrington and Manchester areas. He was appointed Organ Scholar of Warrington Parish Church in 2003, and is now a third year student at the Royal Northern College of Music. Thursday 22nd May at 7.30pm Illustrated Talk on Stained Glass in Great Budworth Parish Hall Following their work in restoring some of the stained and leaded glass in the church last year, and the article in our last Friends' Newsletter, one of the partners from Arnold & Blaze, Ashley Pencally, is going to speak about the making of stained glass together with practical demonstrations of their work. Admission is free, but donations to help cover the cost of the hall etc would be appreciated. The Friends of Great Budworth Church The Vicarage, Great Budworth, Cheshire, CW9 6HF. Tel: 01606891324 Saturday 12th July 10.00am- 5.00pm Outing to Liverpool Cathedral & Birkenhead Priory The Outing will start with a guided tour of Liverpool Anglican Cathedral lasting an hour (Free, but a £3.00 donation is requested). Light lunch in the Cathedral Refectory will be available (eg Sandwich & coffee for under £5.00). An optional 40 minute trip on the Mersey Ferry from Liverpool to Birkenhead (via Seacombe) is available at £2.60 p.p. (Concessions £2.00). The coach will transport others through the Mersey tunnel to Birkenhead. The day will finish with a self-guided visit to the 12th century Birkenhead Priory (Free). The coach will cost £10.00 p.p. for members and £12.00 p.p. for others. It will pick up and drop off in Comberbach and Great Budworth .Saturday 13th September at 2.00pm Great Budworth Church Tour and Walk around the Village Rob Steele will once again conduct his informative and ever popular tour of our Parish Church. This will be followed by light refreshments, and a Walk around Great Budworth Village led by Alec Brown. This event is free, but a contribution towards expenses would be appreciated.
